1Village, Gene Sharps book "from dictator to democracy", and it is free online, would be a great thing to inject into any group that only sees violence as a solution. I understand why they are using violence, it has always been see as useful. However, it is because they are passionate and serious. You can always point them to the 99% Declaration. We can always use people. Our society promotes and expects violence so it only makes sense. Thanks for reaching out 1Village

There are plenty of supporters of OWS who have or will soon run out of patience with OWS and its structure, but who still support a need for structural change of our government. What the 99%D delegates should be doing is getting to know their local OWS supporters and organize those who are looking for something concrete to do, which would be precinct work for the eventual run of 99%D candidates in 2014 and 2016. Missing the opportunity to meet these like-minded people in the OWS movement would be a hugh loss. It's going to take alot of bodies to run a ground opperation in an election and starting to build that organization now is not too soon.

Occupy is working on holding an Article V Constitutional Convention which is the only way to truly effect change and circumvent congress - this 99%D declaration will be a nice piece of paper - but to what effect it will have on effecting change - so what if the 3 arms of government ignore it then what - oh that's right it wants to create it's own political candidates - I wonder who'll be running for office first under this declaration?

Article V in part: "the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention"
If OWS can get 34 states to call a constitutional convention that woud be great, but OWS on its own holding a constitutional convention is only theater.

Mikejaskula - at present 38 states have filed for a constitutional convention - you won't hear about it in the media - this is why Occupy is now getting involved in this effort - it won't just be an Occupy 'theater' as you say - but Occupy has done a great job of educating people on the issues and their support would be invaluable.... We shall know more on the 2/21/12. There is a case that will determine if congress has violated their oath of office by not calling for con-con because so many states have called for it.... if the ruling is in favor of the people then congress must call for a con-con or pay a hefty fine plus a minimum of one year in jail... If a con-con is called Occupy will be a great vehicle to help develop all the mechanisms needed for the "people" to hold... here's a couple of links for you to review. FOAVC Frequently Asked Questions Page foavc.org and then there a conference call conducted on Thursday, 2/9 and there will be another one this coming in 2/16... below is the last call: www.livestream.com/occupyhawaii/v....medium=ui-thumbwww.livestream.comAnd if you want info on the case that is pending: www.facebook.com/events/349317965092381/It is now or we may be silenced for ever... I'm keeping the faith in the American People...

If you want to put fear in a congressional member's heart - just ask him about holding a constitutional convention - they don't 1. Want to give up their power and 2. Think that American's as a whole are too stupid...

I hope some people are still reading this thread. I am working with Nanette on www.republicrestored.net to provide education for anyone seeking an explanation of the issues and the remedies being proposed. All of that is groundwork for what I see as the next two stages to the Occupy movement. The first is outreach to all Americans to ask them whether they agree to the change identified by the Occupiers as summarized in the Petition for Redress and Pledge of Action that I authored in November. The point of the Petition for Redress or 99%Declaration, whatever it is ultimately called, is to have as many Americans as possible signal that they agree that change is needed and the Petition explains that change in moderate, progressive tones, not the angry, radical voice of the Occupiers' documents that are not gaining support of middle America. If we demonstrate enough Americans are behind us, the government and corporations will have to take our call for change more seriously and start to act on some of the proposed remedies. Meanwhile, the next step is to organize a convention to address those issues that must be dealt with through constitutional amendment. This two-stage approach covers pretty much everything the Occupy movement and newer supporters have called for with one exception. Some would still like to see the Occupy movement put forward candidates in the 2014 elections to begin the process of removing the career politicians who created this mess. That's admirable and fine that people want to work on that now. However, change is needed sooner than 2015 when anyone elected would finally be able to do anything. So, the work on the Petition and the convention are moving forward. If Occupiers who are still focused on occupying places want to be involved, they will be welcome. However, those of us who recognize that the Occupiers are treading water by continuing occupations and turning off the 99 percent by using violence want to move on and will do so.
