Grievences no. 6, 7, and 12 should not be a part of the formal "Petition for the Redress of Grievances."
This is not to say that healthcare, protecting the environment, and education reform aren't important. It should go without saying that these issues are very important. However, I doubt seriously if you are going to get more than 800 delegates together over a 3 day period and come up with a meaningful and agreed upon grievance. These three issues are all very complex, they deserve separate focus, and should be dealt with at another time. How many environmental conferences have we seen so far that ended without any substantial breakthroughs?
It would be wiser to spend the 3 days in Philadelphia working on the most pressing issues that are facing this country. It should be the goal of the delegates to the NGA, towrite a final draft of grievances that the Congress is capable of addressing in a fairly short period of time. Fixing the problems with healthcare, the environment, and education are going to take much longer than simply closing the loopholes for the influence of Big Money in government or reforming banking by reinstating regulations.

First, if two delegates are supposed to bring their district list of grievances to be discussed at the NGA why are we still pushing MP's "sample" list of grievances.
If MP and/or the New board of directors are still INSISTING on pushing these grievances than they don't need the rest of us to bring ours.
I don't see why it is SO HARD to wait until the delegates bring their own list of grievances to be discussed.

I agree Tom. Assuming anything happens with this at all that is. I have always thought the proposed list of grievances was entirely too long. It should focus only on the influence of Big Money on our elected representatives (nos. 1-4) and Wall Street abuses (No. 16).
