Terry - I'm glad you support MP so deeply - blind faith is a good thing to have and innocence in the world is also good to have. However, for many of us, we have thousands and thousands of supporting documents to support the posts you read here - this is only the tip of the ice burg to this whole situation.
All MP did was be an opportunist at Occupy Wall Street - he leveraged his professional job as an attorney to capitalize on the various grievances, he started a Facebook page soliciting for money to fund a proposed event to ratify grievances and form a document i.e., declaration.... Unfortunately, he put little thought to the actual execution of this idea. I have statement from him supporting this too.
When people started to ask questions or challenge him they were typically met with name calling, temper tantrums, and threatened with legal actions.... He was, admittedly more concerned about an HBO special, making a movie and a book deal then he was with seeing the effort through.
He resigned at least 2 times that I'm aware of in the month of January - with legal documentation to verify this statement... in fact there is supporting evidence to everything I have said here - and I have said it so that others are not duped into supporting the man and his money grab - versus - support the effort...
However, if he has his way, there isn't going to be an effort... he is more concerned about the power and control over the effort then he is about the effort succeeding... One has to ask why? What was his real motive for starting this effort if not to see the effort through without all the other grandiose schemes, i.e., HBO special, movie deal, book deal, etc.?
When he was challenged to focus on the effort and not about making a movie - his reply was, "If we aren't going to make a movie then why bother doing any of this!"
In closing regarding your illusion that the document this effort may have produced would have done anything to change the direction of our country - I doubt it - It would have been a nice piece of paper but I'm quite confident that congress and the powers that be would have buried like they have with so many other proposals for change...
The only way to circumvent congress and effect the Constitution is through an Article V Constitutional Convention - that's where I'm putting my energy and time... except for when I feel a need to pop in here and see if anything has changed... Apparently it has not.
